MFC - Modell- und Formenbau Chemnitz GmbH | TILTENTA 11-2600, TILTENTA 6
Field of application: Model and mould making | Company headquarters: Chemnitz, Germany | Employees: 30

At MFC - Modell- und Formenbau Chemnitz GmbH, you can feel that a sense of tradition and modern equipment go hand in hand. Metal has been processed within these time-honoured walls since 1915. The entrepreneur Gustav Krautheim, who was highly respected far beyond the borders of Saxony, founded the Krautheim steel foundry here.

Even back then, the company had its own modelling workshop for the production of cast products. Even though the political situation changed several times in the following decades, this business area was always part of the company and developed continuously. Since 1997, the company has been operating under its current name MFC - Modell- und Formenbau Chemnitz GmbH, or MFC for short. The company primarily manufactures aluminium moulds for the plastics processing industry as well as devices and gauges for vehicle construction.

Aluminium moulds for plastics processors.

MFC has been run by managing director Tino Mädler for five years and today employs around thirty people in two-shift operation. Only the TILTENTA 11, a 5-axis machining centre from HEDELIUS, also machines unmanned overnight. Even at weekends. The new centrepiece of MFC's machine park is a high-performance machining centre with a swivelling main spindle and a 1,100 mm Y travel path.

Large workpieces with long running times.

"We work in such a way that the small, fine workpieces are produced during the day and the large workpieces are opened on the machine for processing during unmanned operation," explains Tino  Mädler. The long running times of the large workpieces and the associated heat development are not a problem, says Mädler happily. "The TILTENTA 11 has a water-cooled HSK-63 spindle with 18,000 rpm and active cooling. The intelligent cooling system achieves a high level of thermal stability and compensates for temperature differences. This has a particularly high impact on the quality of the components."

Successful ergonomics.

This advantage was one of the reasons why the entrepreneur decided in favour of the TILTENTA 11. Another is the positive experience with the slightly smaller TILTENTA 6, which has been running reliably at MFC for some time. The operators praised the successful ergonomics in particular. "Our people really enjoy working on the HEDELIUS machines," says Mädler. Incidentally, both machining centres also fit perfectly into the MFC factory hall. This is because they were delivered in the company's own blue colour on open request.

Optimised chip fall.

The question of chip fall was also very important to the Chemnitz-based company, as the machining rate for the aluminium blocks is a whopping 85 percent. "There are lots and lots of chips. But they fall cleanly into the chip conveyor and are removed well so that no heat build-up can occur." The machining centres in the TILTENTA series are already equipped as standard with vertical stainless steel covers for optimum chip fall and a fully encapsulated work area.

"Very high performance with large components."

The two HEDELIUS machines have once again opened up a new level for the company, praises Mädler. "We have now achieved a very high level of performance, even with large components, which has improved our quality and production speed enormously. This enables us to enter completely new business areas." And that is the best thing a company can achieve.

At Carstengerdes Modellbau und Zerspanung GmbH in Bockhorn near Wilhelmshaven, state-of-the-art technology meets a family working environment characterised by genuine appreciation. With the ultra-modern 5-axis machining centre ACURA 85 and the MARATHON 518 pallet handling system, the company focuses on automation and technical innovation - a major step forward that not only increases efficiency, but also offers young talents enjoyment of their work and long-term prospects.

Circelli Engineering Solutions GmbH from Dulliken is one of the start-ups on the Swiss manufacturing scene. Originating as a small design office, the young company has developed into a system provider thanks to its passion and investment in innovative CNC technologies. The founding brothers and owners Paolo Circelli and Marco Circelli explain the role played by the latest FORTE 65 and ACURA 65 machining centres from HEDELIUS.

Thanks to automation, IWK Verpackungstechnik has been able to significantly increase the production capacity of its HEDELIUS machining centres. By integrating a robot cell, the CNC operators gain valuable time that they can use for the manufacture of single parts. This solution enables IWK to increase its flexibility and further expand production efficiency.
