• Eighty guests were impressed by HEDELIUS.

Customers and interested parties from the Netherlands and Belgium are closed.

HEDELIUS Maschinenfabrik GmbH and its local sales partner Promas BV organised a customer day for interested parties and customers from the Netherlands and Belgium on 16 January. 80 guests accepted the invitation to Meppen in northern Germany, not far from the Dutch border. "We are delighted about the great interest shown by our neighbours. The Netherlands has always been a special market for us," says HEDELIUS Managing Director Dennis Hempelmann with satisfaction. Visitors to the Customer Day were able to gain an impression of the high quality standards in the family-run company's production during the company tour. In the demonstration centre, ten machining centres were then ready to demonstrate the quality of machining live.

These included the 3-axis milling machines FORTE 65 Single 1320 and FORTE 85 Single 1620 as well as the 5-axis machines TILTENTA 6-2300, TILTENTA 7-2600 and TILTENTA 9-2600 from the swivelling head family. The ACURA 65 rotating/swivelling table machining centre was also closed for a live demonstration. The connected automation was of particular interest to many guests. On the one hand the robot automation Platinum 50 from BMO-Automation, on the other hand the newly developed pallet automation MARATHON P422 from HEDELIUS.

Visitors to the Customer Day were among the first to experience this system live in a demonstration, as the MARATHON will be the first to be launched on the market in the coming weeks. The system comprises 22 pallets with dimensions of 400 x 400 mm, a clamping weight of up to 150 kg, a collision area diameter of 500 mm and a clamping height of 400 mm. Another special feature is the interaction of the MARATHON P422 with the ACURA 65 and a standby magazine. HEDELIUS thus offers a complete turnkey solution.

In manufacturing companies that mainly produce small batch sizes, every minute of spindle time counts - or so the theory goes. In practice, however, the proportion of productive spindle time compared to working time is often less than 40 per cent. The search for tools, clamping devices and information, as well as set-up, tie up valuable resources and leave many operating companies far behind their potential. There are many ways to sustainably close flexibility - and thus performance - in production. But every manufacturing company is different. The trick is therefore to find your very own recipe for success.

Advancing automation has long since arrived in mechanical engineering and contract manufacturing - but many companies still face challenges, especially when it comes to small batch sizes. While large-scale production is already largely automated today, flexibility in smaller quantities, which are often the order of the day in contract manufacturing, poses a particular challenge. How can automation be made to pay off here too without presenting machine operators with insurmountable hurdles?
